Garville Avenue, Rathgar
Architect: Brazil/Lohan
Works consisted of a large extension and refurbishment of dwelling on Garville Avenue. The curved roof over extension was created using rolled steel beams which sat on a steel frame, the roof and fascia and soffits were then clad in zinc. Some details include roof glazing across the rear of the extension at existing to house to allow light back into rear of old house, and an office which is on a mezzanine floor with utility room under, which floor level is 600mm below existing floor to allow for necessary head heights. The rear of extension is finished with sand and cement render and cedar cladding which ties in well with the zinc roof, large glass screens and fanlights allow for a bright spacious open plan living area in extension.
